Great website!
Please take a look at the following website. You child can type in their spelling words and it will create games and practice activities.

Tomorrow is Friday! I am so pleased with how this week has gone by!
There will be two pieces of information being sent home tomorrow with your child
1. Snack and Helper calendar - it will also include Math homework at the bottom
I will let you know if homework does not get sent home the day it is marked on the calendar.
2. Scholastic book order- it is due September 7th I encourage you to order online, when you do our class receives a free book! If you choose not to order on-line I will still accept checks.... please make them payable to Scholastic.
I am hoping to start Readers Workshop by September 7th. I will send a note home as it gets closer. Just as a reminder: Once Readers Workshop starts I will be requiring that each student read at least 1 and 1/2 hours each week and that includes the weekend. Please be looking for a pink log that you will need to sign each night.

Reminder!
Your child should have a planner for you to sign every evening. If for some reason it does not make it home, please write me a short e-mail just saying that you were informed of homework and what we worked on in school that day. I am using the planner to help students remember that they have homework and how important it is to be organized.
Starting within the next few weeks, your child will also bring home a "reading log." I expect 10 minutes of reading each night, Monday-Thursday. If you would like your child to read over the weekend, there will be a spot on the "reading log" for the weekend. Please make sure that you look for the "reading log" as well.
I really hope to add some photos shortly. Please check back!
Again, if you have any questions please feel free to call or e-mail me! Thanks!

Welcome to 3rd grade!
Welcome to 3rd grade! I am so excited to be your child’s third grade teacher. I am ready to get started and to work with your child! This year brings many new and exciting challenges! 3rd grade is the first time your child will take the Kansas State Assessments. We will learn how to write in cursive. We will work on multiplication and division. We will work on 6-trait writing as well as many other life-long valuable skills. Please be ready and available to help your child succeed!
I will be sending home monthly newsletters containing important information. Please look for the newsletter! If you check email regularly, I would be more than happy to send that information to your email address. If there is any other information that needs to be sent out I will try to copy it on brightly colored paper.
Your child can bring a water bottle to school. Make sure that his or her name is clearly marked.
Again, I am so excited to work with your child and help them become life-long learners! If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me. Thank you!
